Fisher Highlights Tilapia Production Expansion Plans

Our operations were recently featured in a report published by AgFeed, which presented Fisher Piscicultura’s expansion plans, the investments received from Dutch fund Aqua-Spark, and our strategy to increase tilapia production in Brazil. The article also covers the development of TRGV technology and the growth prospects for Brazilian fish farming.
In this article, we highlight the main takeaways from the report and provide context on their importance to the development of our company and the aquaculture industry.

Growth Built on Planning and Innovation
Since our founding in 2011, we have invested in research, technology, and the development of solutions tailored to Brazilian fish farming. This work gained new momentum in 2019, when we received an investment from Dutch fund Aqua-Spark. In 2022, a new investment strengthened this partnership, which remains part of Fisher’s growth strategy. According to the report, the fund currently holds approximately a 40% stake in the company.
This support has enabled us to accelerate investments in infrastructure and expand our production capacity, always focusing on greater efficiency and solutions aligned with market needs.
Expanding Production Capacity
The report highlights the growth of our operation in Riolândia, in the state of São Paulo. What started with just two or three tanks has evolved into a structure with 73 tanks, capable of producing approximately 400 metric tons of tilapia per month. Before Aqua-Spark’s investment, our production was around 50 metric tons per month.
During the interview with AgFeed, we also shared our studies for expanding operations into new regions of the country. Areas under consideration include Goiás, Rondônia, and Bahia, as well as the expansion of the Riolândia facility. These projects do not yet have a defined implementation schedule, but they are part of the company’s strategic planning to expand its presence in Brazil’s fish farming industry.
Technology as a Foundation for Development
Another point addressed in the report is Fisher’s continued investment in technology applied to tilapia production.
Our TRGV technology (High-Volume Net Pen), developed to meet the specific characteristics of Brazilian reservoirs, was presented as one of the company’s key differentiators. The publication also highlights management practices designed to reduce fish stress throughout the production cycle, such as grading fish without removing them from the water, contributing to better farming conditions and greater operational efficiency.
These initiatives reflect our commitment to developing solutions that contribute to an increasingly efficient, sustainable, and resilient aquaculture industry.
Outlook for the Tilapia Market
The report also examines the current scenario in Brazilian fish farming. Following a period of slower growth driven by market conditions, we resumed increasing tank stocking levels as tilapia prices recovered.
During the interview, our Operations Director, Cláudio Masocatto, explained that the expectation was to gradually increase production volumes throughout the year, in line with a more favorable outlook for the sector. The article also mentions factors that have influenced the market, including changes in international trade and increased competition from imported products.

Looking Ahead: The Future of Fish Farming
Being featured by a specialized publication such as AgFeed reinforces the relevance of investments in technology, planning, and innovation to the development of Brazilian aquaculture.
We remain committed to developing solutions that contribute to the sustainable growth of tilapia production, supporting the evolution of the sector and strengthening an increasingly efficient production chain prepared to meet market demands.
